November theatre

Pomona runs at the Royal Exchange until 21 November.  This surreal thriller promises something very different.  Read my interview with writer Alistair McDowell here.

At HOME, the Oresteia continues until 14 November.  This new version of the classic Greek play tries to combine ancient and modern themes and styles with mixed success.

Also at HOME, Manchester School of Theatre continue their season with Unity 1918.  From 5 to 7 November, these productions work well in the new HOME studio and are highly recommended.

JB Shorts is back for series 14, from 3 to 14 November.  Following the usual format of six 15 minute plays by top TV writers, there’s always a good mix for everyone.  At Joshua Brooks.

Sale Waterside, together with Mighty Heart Theatre, present What’s the Matter with You?  This newly commissioned show tackles mental health and is on from 26 to 28 November.

Ockham’s Razor is jointly presented by Contact and the Lowry (and performed at the Lowry) from 11 to 14 November.  Drawing on physical theatre and circus the company create stunning aerial routines.

Stacy Mikishi performs her solo show Vesper Time at Contact from 17 – 18 November.  I was impressed by her work with the CYC for Under the Covers so expect good things from this.
