There’s something wonderful about seeing stuff in development and I’d wanted to come to the King’s Arms Vaults for ages – since seeing the Dumb Waiter and wondering how it worked in this space.  It’s a quirky place holding 20 in the cellar. Cold, slightly damp, a bit edgy.  The sort of place you come to love.

Benched is a musical piece about two women who meet on a bench and strike up a friendship. They support each other through the challenges of their own relationships.  Voices are superb (sorry I don’t know the names), there’s a great drunk scene, and with some development of dialogue – there are the germs of some interesting themes – this could be an exciting piece.

A really enjoyable hour.
